No sherlock, what a lame video. I feel bad for the fish you catch. If you didnt notice it wasnt a shark so i dont think a hard tug is really that necessary.

    i guess you cant …
i guess you cant say something about someone until you know them cause you live in new england. Where in new england??? man i wish i could fish the rivers of colorado and montana. but i live in new jersey where the rivers and streams are 20 feet wide and have many rocks and many many trees.

    I guess you win …
I guess you win then. Congrats! I have no problem catching them with worms, powerbait, or lures. Where I live, Fly fishing is not practical. There are way to many trees and most rivers are no wider than 10-15 feet. In Colorado the rivers are 40ft+ wide and there are simply no trees as compared to here in the New England.

    for the most part …
for the most part it is good to practice good handling and all that but i caught a 20 inch rainbow brought him home to eat and he had about 6 hooks in him and he was very heathly so hooks dont necesarrliy kill them

when i go fly fishing i bring home 5+ trout everytime while my dad that goes spinning he brings home 4 at the most

    I would not know …
I would not know about more fish on a stringer because i have not killed any trout and they have all swam away to be caught again another day.

some people do not understand catch and release, to them it is all about the trophy or the meal. To me, fishing has very little to do with the fish and has everything to do with something else some people might not understand.

there is no need to …
there is no need to ever touch a trout with your bare hands however, your statement about touching them is accurate, just the heat from your hand can burn them as well as remove the protective mucous that protects their scales.

what I say about using food attractants is that the animal will most likely die if he swallows the hook and that practicing catch and release is not practical or successful.

the actual bottom line is that you are having fun and that you eat what you kill.

  18. mlke4258 Says:

    Just simply …
Just simply touching a trout with your bare hands or in any manner that removes the protective mucous off their body is enough to cause them to aquire various skin diseases.

Say what you want about using worms or powerbait, but when I am fishing with the fly fisherman, I rarely see them catching anything. It is all the same no matter what you are using. You still have to walk and find the pools.

The bottom line is simply, who has more fish on the chain at the end of the day.

  19. dirtTdude Says:

    trees, bugs, dirt, …
trees, bugs, dirt, clean water and trout have a symbiotic relationship, if you care about fish you might want to care about the environment they live in, maybe you should hug a tree every now and then…

    well said…
    well said…

  21. dirtTdude Says:

    worms, power bait …
worms, power bait and other food attractants will indeed kill a 12 inch or smaller trout however, flies and lures always hook the fish in the mouth and it does not hurt the fish. If you are a beginner and can only catch trout with worms you should eat them.

  22. dirtTdude Says:

    trout have a brain …
trout have a brain that is about the size of a pencil eraser, they feel resistance but not pain in the sense that we do.

some people enjoy catch and release for the sport quality… is it a waist of time? yes, it is as much of a waist of time as any sport or activity however, practicing catch and release is not practical when using any bait. lures and flies are the excepted catching methods used for practicing catch and release because once a trout is gut hooked it’s all over for the fish.

    lol yea dude. trout …
lol yea dude. trout r rlly picky eaters though. do NOT use a bass hook for these. stick with size 8 or smaller. and try trout/panfish worms whole or quartered nightcrawlers

  24. JacSPierce Says:

    When I use …
When I use powerbait with a slip sinker for the trout I can never tell when to set the hook, I am either too early and the fish gets away or I set it after it swallowed the whole thing. Do night crawlers work well for trout? Don’t laugh at me, I’m a bass fisher :P
