Steelhead Fishing Catch and release of a stray summer run steelhead that shows up in Eagle Creek with Matthew Clark. Not all that uncommon but makes for a nice little high water segment. A fly rod with a drift rig is used for this C&R clip. Eagle creek can get as many as 200 of these stray cats on any given year but are not planted or natural to the creek.

The sleeve has a second line tied to the top of this and parallels the main leader line and is attach by a sliding 3 turn uniknot tied with thread. When you slid the red knot up by pinching it or using a pocket comb it slides the sleeve up and the hook rotates and self releases.

Fish that have their air bladder inflate and float can be kill by birds and other predators. Using a SFD™ inline with standard fishing gear gets the fish back down and lets the water pressure recompress their air bladder. Do this with minimum loss in fishing time.
