Beginner Fisher questions?

I will be fishing in Small Lakes and rivers, What kind of fishing pole will i need how long? what kind of rod?

And is there a guide anywhere about the basics like how to do things during fishing and why?

It greatly depends on what fish you are catching. If you are looking for trout than a light action spinning rod with 2-8 lb test mono or fluorocarbon would be perfect for trolling on a small lake or float fishing on a stream. As for sun fish I am not to sure. Good Luck!

up or down,?

At a Senior Citizen’s luncheon, an elderly gentleman and an elderly lady struck up a conversation and discovered that they both loved to fish. Since both of them were widowed, they decided to go fishing together the next day!

The gentleman picked the lady up, and they headed to the river to his fishing boat and started out on their adventure.

They were riding down the river when there was a fork in the river, and the gentleman asked the lady, "Do you want to go up or down?"

All of a sudden the lady stripped off her shirt and pants and made mad passionate love to the man right there in the boat! When they finished, the man couldn’t believe what had just happened, but he had just experienced the best sex that he’d had in years.

They fished for a while and continued on down the river, when soon they came upon another fork in the river. He again asked the lady, "Up or down ?" There she went again, stripped off her clothes, and made wild passionate love to him again.

This really impressed the elderly gentleman, so he asked her to go fishing again the next day! She said yes and there they were the next day, riding in the boat when they came upon the fork in the river, and the elderly gentleman asked, "Up or down ?"

The woman replied, "Down." A little puzzled and disappointed, the gentleman guided the boat down the river when he came upon another fork in the river and he asked the lady, "Up or down ?"

She replied, "Up." This really confused the gentleman so he asked, "What’s the deal? Yesterday, every time I asked you if you wanted to go up or down you made mad passionate love to me. Now today, nothing!"

She replied, "Well, yesterday I wasn’t wearing my hearing aid and I thought the choices were fuck or drown…

Martinique

About the country:
Martinique is an island between the Caribbean sea and North Atlantice Ocean of Trinidad and Tobago.
The climate is tropical. The temperature is 17.3 C, and it’s humid. Martinique also has a dormant volcano, named Mont Pelee.

The best time to go to Martinique is during February to May, when temperatures are about 85 degrees F. Keep in mind that this is the peak tourist season, so everything is expensive and crowded.

The places to go visit are:

Fort-de-France, the capital, is wonderful to explore on foot. Among the sightseeing attractions is the city’s architectural masterpiece, the Bibliothèque Schoelcher, or Schoelcher Library, a Romanesque-Byzantine gem built 100 years ago for the Paris Exposition of 1889, then dismantled and shipped to Martinique mosaic by mosaic. Named for Victor Schoelcher, the French abolitionist whose work helped end slavery on the island in 1848, it sits just off La Savane, the central park.
The capital’s narrow balconied streets, lined with shops and restaurants, all lead to a pleasant discoveries, including the Cathedral of Saint-Louis, the Palais de Justice with its statue of Victor Schœlcher, the Musée Départemental with archeological finds from prehistoric Martinique and the Rivière Madame with its busy fish markets. There are reasonably-priced guided walking tours of Fort-de-France if you would like to learn more about he city.
You can also go see

Le Gauguin Museum which has paintings from Gaugui.

The Zoo du Carbet which was newly renovated and has animals from the Caribbean, the Amazon and Africa.

The Carbet Botanical Garden also known as the ”Valley of the Butterflies."

La Trace: a dazzling route through the rain forest. This mountainous northern half of the island is also lush with banana and pineapple plantations, avocado groves, cane fields, and several lovely old island inns such as Habitation Lagrange.

Le Precheur: the last village along the northern Caribbean coast, known for hot springs of volcanic origin and the Tomb of the Carib Indians.

Ajoupa Bouillon: enchanting flower-lined town with a nature trail called Les Ombrages and, nearby, the Gorges de la Falaise, mini-canyons along the Falaise River, lead to a waterfall.

Musée du Rhum: operated by St. James Distellery. You are welcome to sample martinique’s rums in this Museeum. This museeum is know as a fine contemporary museeum. Meetings of presidents have taken place in this place.

Is this part of my story ok?

Posted by admin on February 4th, 2010 and filed under river fishing guide | 1 Comment »

I walked down to the river and sat by its edge on the grass. It was getting dark now; I could hear my horse behind me eating grass. I examined the river; and looked closely at the water noticing tiny fish swimming in a group, all identical looking, and all swimming in the same direction. The water reflected the moonlight as if the moon had fallen in to the river. I could also see my reflection; I looked long and hard at it, and noticed that a lonely tear was travelling down my face. I was thinking about what my parents had said, I was upset because I thought that I disappoint them, and if they only want me to get married because they don’t trust me to run the kingdom on my own.

I wiped the tear away with my finger and then cupped my hands in the water and splashed some all over my face, as I looked a mess from crying. I lay back on the grass, and looked up in to the sky; I noticed that stars were starting to come out shining brightly as if their job is to guide people. Suddenly, I saw a very unusual star which was absolutely beautiful, I then realized that it was a shooting star, I had never seen one before, but people have told me that they are very beautiful, and now I know that they are right. It started off completely still, then darted through the sky as if the other stars rejected it, and shot it from the sky. It was white, thin on one end and thick on the other, the thicker end was glowing. It did however disappear rather quickly which didn’t matter, as I have heard that not many people have had such an amazing experience.

I was still amazed by what I had seen, and was hoping to see another one when I heard noise coming from the bushes to the side of me. It seemed as something was there. I looked at my horse and saw that he was staring at the bushes, the exact same place the noise had come from. Something was there. I decided to go and investigate.
“Probably a deer or something,” I thought, doubt running through my mind, as I crept towards the trees. When I got there, nothing was to be seen, I thoroughly check the area, but still nothing. I was starting to get scared. There was certainly something there, it wasn’t the wind, and it wasn’t strong enough to cause such a sound. It certainly wasn’t my imagination. I gave up searching and decided to go back to the river, but as I turned around somebody was standing in front of me. It was a man, in his early thirties; rich dark greasy hair and a stubble bear. He was wearing old ragged clothing. The man gave me an evil smirk. I ignored him and turned around to walk away, but there was a man there as well. He was wearing the same sort of clothes as the other man, only he was much older. His hair was grey, and he had large wrinkles forming on his face which reminded me of a bulldog. I was surrounded, I didn’t know what to do, and I was scared.
“What do you want?” I demanded, firm but worried.
The first guy smirked at me again.
“We want your gold princess.” The older man said. How did he know I was the princess, I had never seen these two guys before I thought. I tried to run, but the younger man grabbed on to my arms and stopped me.
“Didn’t you hear him princess? Hand over all your money.”
“No I will not” I stated. I was starting to become more confident.
Suddenly the older man reached in to his pockets, and produced a dagger. It was silver and looked very sharp. I closed my eyes knowing that this man was going to kill me, when I decided to open my eyes; I froze in horror as suddenly from nowhere I heard a shot of a bow, and noticed that the old man had an arrow embedded in his back. He dropped to the ground and I looked at him, his eyes were closed. It looked as if he was dead. The younger man, who was horrified with what had just happened, threw me to the ground which caused my head to hit the ground with great impact, I became unconscious.

Sorry about my mistakes
Feel free to edit it, but you may not want to as it’s very long

The first part is in that question
Last bit edited :)
LOL i also noticed that I overused I and thanks for the answer :) glad to know i’m better than some people.
The reason why I put her being attacked by strangers is that she gets saved by somebody from her past, and he has been sent to kill her and later on in m story the younger man comes back, he is to do with Liliths (main characer) old friend
Her old friend (matthew) and the two men arranged it, only the old man wasn’t supposed to die

‘which caused my head to hit the ground with great impact, I became unconscious.’. okay. if some random people were attacking you and stuff are you really going to be saying stuff like that? and being so perceptive?
this would work better if the story was in past tense, but your writing is better than others ive seen.
there tends to be an overuse of the word ‘I’
but anyway keep it up:)

I need help with editing my text about canadian painter Tom Thomson. It needs to be separated in paragraphs and please do other editing to help the flow of the text? here it is:

Tom Thomson

Introduction
Many say me art was just a waste of time, that I should get a well-paying job to support myself. “Look Tom you’re living in a shack” they would say. It was what I wanted to do, it was my passion, the last thing I wanted to do was sit in an office and talk on the phone all day just to make money. I’d rather do something I loved and that I would enjoy for the rest of my life, which I did but unfortunately it all came to an end when I was 39 years old.

I was born Thomas John Thomson on August 4th 1877 in Claremont, Ontario, and I grew up near Owen Sound, Ontario. In 1899 I had an apprenticeship at a machineshop, but I was fired because of tardiness. In the later months of 1899 I volunteered to fight in the second Boer War, and in 1901 I enrolled in a business college in Chatham. Shortly after (8 months to be exact) I dropped out to follow my brother who was operating a business school in Seattle. In 1904 I returned to Canada and studied with William Cruikshank from 1905-1906. A year later I joined Grip Ltd. An artistic design firm in Toronto where many of the future members of the Group Of Seven worked. I became a member of “The Ontario Society Of Artists” in 1914. I then began living in a utility shack on Canoe Lake where I volunteered as a fire fighter, ranger, and guide. I quit shortly after when there wasn’t enough time for painting. I spent my years painting and sketching on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park and in 1917 that came to a tragic end. I disappeared during a canoe trip on July 8, 1917 and 8 days later my body was found in the lake. My official cause of death was “accidental drowning” but many people believed that wasn’t the case. There was fishing line wrapped around my leg seventeen times suggesting it was put there deliberately. I also had a severe head injury but that is thought to have been post-mortem (after death). Most people think I was murdered by my German-American neighbour Martin Bletcher Jr., others say I fell on a fire grate during a drunken brawl with J. Shannon Fraser (Owner of Canoe Lodge), and others say I was in a severe stage of depression and committed suicide. Only I know the real reason and some things are better kept a mystery. I was buried half a kilometer away from Canoe Lake before my family even knew of my death. My body was later exhumed and brought back to my hometown upon my family’s request.

Art
I began painting at a young age and I was influenced by impressionism which is a style of art (visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light, ordinary subject matter, and unusual visual angles.) I influenced “The Group Of Seven” and “The Canadian Group Of Painters”. The main people from the Group Of Seven that I influenced were A.Y. Jackson, Fred Varley, and Arthur Lismer. I began painting seriously when I was well into my thrities but it was always a big part of me. A few of my most recognized works of art were “The Jack Pine”, “Northern River”, and “The West Wind”. I painted those three paintings among others in a utility shack in Rosedale, my most creative artistic period was when I was living in the shack around 1915. In 1916 I returned to Algonquin Park(where I died). I was helped tremendously by Dr. James McCallum who helped me make my transition from “Graphic Designer” to “Professional Painter”. Many say my art resembles impressionists such as Vincent Van Gogh, and Paul Cezanne which is a great honour for me. Since my death I’ve been recognized even more as an artist and in 2002 The National Gallery of Canada staged a major exhibition of my work. After my death J.E.H. MacDonald and John W. Beatty made a memorial plaque where I died. The cost was paid in full by Dr. James McCallum.

Conclusion
So even though my life was very short I am still very much alive through my art. My art will always be out there, I am very happy I got to meet and influence so many talented artists and I don’t regret anything in my life. If I could give any piece of advice to anyone who cared to listen I would say “follow your dreams, if some people don’t like it who cares?” Do what you want to do if you don’t everyday you will think about what your life would’ve been like if you followed your dreams. Just do it what’ve you got to lose?
Thank you !

P.S. it’s in first person because we’re doing role playing with our painter.

First person to edit it and do a good job gets ten points !

Meaning of this really weird recurring dream?

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under river fishing guide | 2 Comments »

Ok so theres this fish right?? and i have to guide him down this river, kind of video game style, dodging the dinosaurs and trash cans. When i get to the end he has to go onland and get to the treasure box and back to the water really quick before he dies. then he has to go through a door thats again on land which ends up leading to my laundry room. So we get in there and the poor things about to ie so i grab a cup and fill it with water and put him in it. But then he dies so i figure its because its not salt water and rush to get him back to the river thing but when i go back through the door its not there anymore and instead it leads to my backyard. i hear the voices of a fox and a rabbit and the fox is about to kill the rabbit so i run up my balcony stairs even though i saw my dog running lose in the grass and then i thought i saw her in the dark (it got randomly dark on one side of the yard) but i run up the stiar anyway and get inside and my dog is in there so i figure the thing in the dark mustve been something else like a wolf or something. and im freaking out then it breaks through my window and bites my dog and its chasing me around my house and so im just runnin up and down stairs and then i wake up.

Uber weird dream. I faintly remember having this dream a few times before but i think it was like years ago. Could it have a meaning?

You are busy girl in your dream ; but in your daily life ; its your head who is busy ; I mean you have so many [ dream ] about your future and also you are searching new experience ; because you want to be famous ; at the very least you want to be recognize

It very well may be that your near death experience opened your third eye or psychic center and you could see through the veil which separates this world from the next. However this situation may have also triggered your profound depression. This is the reason you no longer can view the other side. It was something that your delicate psyche could not cope with. If you believe that you are ready to resume contact with this dimension then perhaps you should start a regime of mediation and study. Peace&Love be with you…~M~

what site could a novice angler get the best local information from?

Excuse the pun, but I am totally hooked on fishing!
I’m a female who has been fishing on her own for a year and literally picking things up through trial and error and a few books.
I live near Bournemouth, Dorset and like to fish the River Avon and Wareham and Beaulieu rivers.
Pike and (hey, come back you coward!) Eeels! are a favourite so far but I would like to branch out. Lake and carp don’t really appeal so far.
I’ve caught a red mullet, roach, dace ect.
Thing is, my knowledge is very basic and to be honest I have had to carry a fish identification book with me but I so want to learn more. I even wake up thinking of fishing!
I have found being a very inexperienced female has brought on unwanted attention from fellow anglers.
Problem is, I can’t seem to find a good concise finshing info guide on the internet. I seem to spend hours trawling seasons, bait, methods etc from one site to the next. So I guess my question is, where can I find local (dorset) info and could anyone recommend someone who would be prepared to give pike fishing lessons please without treating me like a silly woman?

I can’t help you with a site, But pike are opportunist. They will hit most any bait you throw at them. The prefer fast moving baits. Try a spinner bait, or minnow baits like a rapala. Use a steel leader. For live bait try a large minnow under a bobber. Hope this helps.

I have a semester test tomorrow and need some help with a study guide!?

In the book A River Runs Through It, I have some questions that I am stumped on.
1. The river is a metaphor. What does it stand for? How does fishing fit into this?
2. Early on in the novel, Maclean writes that "Man was a damned mess." However, fishing offs him salvation. How?
3. At the end of this novel, with Paul dead, does the author prove this thinking true or false?
4. Does Maclean believe that you should ask for help or not?

This is way too late to be of any use to you, but for future, they will help with any literature questions you might get.
