I am thinking about opening up a small guide service operating in the remote wilderness areas in Montana. I will not be fishing or hunting but guiding people on backpacking trips.

Where would I look to find requirements for a wilderness commercial guiding liscence in montana?
anyone ever fished the Davidson River in North Carolina ?
which flies work best and would it be worth going with a guide ?
No, but if you have a boat I would’nt hire a guide. Go out on your boat or wade out and try for a weekend or two and try around using different flies and locations. You might find the honey hole and fill the cooler, but if you try a little and still don’t yield any fish go ahead and hire a guide. Look around a little and find a good deal, guides can get pricey.

Im trying to eat less carbs and more protein food! thanks
I not a midget but i think im petite, i am 5′ 3"
for best results reduce your carbohydrate intake, ie no breadds, rice etc if you must eat bread try and limit the amount 2 slices or so is fine
also i would recomend taking away the oats there high in cals and v high in carbs. also kick the crisps outta there, they maybe low fat but still full of garbage
also try and drink more water
Converting my freshwater tank into a saltwater tank? What are the basics that I would need? Tips?
Ok so I have a successful community freshwater tank. I work full time so but always aim to spend as much time as possible keeping the tank and fish in good condition. I have decided (as selfish as it seems) that I want something a bit more exciting and varied and would love to try a saltwater tank. My local pet shop has some stunning saltwater fish and accessories which I would love to have. I have plenty of money saved but I need to know
- What are the basics I would need to convert the tank (accessories, medications etc)
- How much harder is the upkeep of a saltwater tank
- Would you say saltwater fish are more susceptible to illness/death or are they the same as freshwater
- And If possible could you give me a basic step by step guide to convert the tank
Any answers much appreciated,
Cheers ![]()
A marine fish tank is much harder to set up and maintain, the strength of the salt is paramount, and you might have difficulties in converting a tank from fresh to salt water. I tried to keep marine fish once, but even though I followed all the instructions, all that happened was that the fish all died within 5 days. costly given the cost of the marine fish. Go to a SPECIALIST shop and get information there, or look for info online. A pet shop is there to sell you the fish, and don’t forget, if they have problems with them dying or getting disease, they just throw the dead and diseased one s out, and hope to sell the others before they succumb.

Where can i find a guide that will fly me and my two friends out into the back country for survival camping?
We want to go somewhere like the Yukon, Alaska, the Pacific Northwest or anywhere else where we can hunt, fish, trap and survive for two weeks without any other human interaction. Obviously Alaska would be more expensive, but any advice or leads would be great. I can’t seem to find a good site on the internet for a company that will help get you set up and maybe offer some training regarding the specific area’s edible flora and fauna.
since I left alaska I cant remember the out fitters, but you can check on line. twin lakes area is a good spot , big lake is too crowed, but you can also look around talkeetna there will be some good connections there.
check out the smaller cities, anything that is based out of anchorage is probably over rated and over priced.
seward and homer are good jump off points.
and anywhere in the panhandle is gonna be good.
Which guide would be recomended for reelfoot lake?
Fishing for both bass and crappie. Looking for the most economical and reliable. I don’t want to overpay.
Mark Pierce, knows his business and is pleasant company. Good sense of humor and has reliable equipment. My wife and I have used him several times, took my grandson (8) on one occassion. Never had a bad trip with Mark. He has a web site with contact information.
Can someone please help me correctly identify this fish? (pictures included)?
I caught this fish in Lake Windermere, BC. The types of fish that are in this lake are: lake trout, mountain lake whitefish, bass, rainbow trout, bull trout, yellow perch, brown trout, brook trout.
I have a photo guide, but I am not very familiar with fish, and they are relatively hard to distinguish with my lack of expertise. Thanks!!

ps. I think it is a mountain white fish: (example of whitefish)

oh, i forgot, there is also bass here… not sure, it has the yellow sheen of a bass, but not the face of a bass
it is a Dolly Varden trout. Kind of looks like a cross between a bull and a dolly. They are common in BC as well in north eastern US.
Dolly Varden and bulls look a lot alike. As they get older they will resemble more of a salmon than a typical small trout.
Nice catch. What did you catch her on?
Does anyone know of any good fishing spots in Corpus Christi area?
I can’t afford to pay for a fishing guide and I want my two sons to have a good time after we visit the aquarium.
I use to surf fish down in the Corpus area from time to time. All along the South Texas coast is great for surf fishing. I don’t suggest surf fishing for real young children, but I started fishing the surf at about 10yrs old. You can catch a variety of different fish between the second and third sandbars using live of fresh dead shrimp. There use to be several jetty areas to choose from in Corpus that I’m sure lots of fisherman still fish off of. I don’t like fishing the jetties because of all the hang ups robbing all of my tackle from me. If you decide to use the surf be aware of the undertows, especially when the tide is running. Fishing during low ebb or high flood will be less current to fish in. Carry a couple of different sized weights to keep the bait down as the current gets stronger. If the waves are laying down for ya, you can use a popping cork fishing about 2ft down with a shrimp on the hook. I have always caught trout in the surf this way as well. 40yr exp.
